Hello all,

I am seriously considering connecting a second hdtv to my D* HR20 dvr. The primary tv occupies the sole hdmi ouput on the dvr.

The other tv (720p) has both hdmi and component inputs and is in a small bedroom on the far side of the house (35-40ft).

Would a monoprice 5 rca cl2 50 ft component cable be the best way (price considering)?

Will I loose PQ :mecry: ?

Any other Ideas?

Thanks.

Jeff.

I;d move the master to component assuming that you are connected to an Av system via optical. That way you can run one HDMI to the remote TV getting both video and audio with a single line.

Hi Kevin,

Will the PQ on the master (primary) suffer w/ component vs. hdmi?

Will the long 50 ft. hdmi cable cause noticable pq loss as well?

I haven't made all the connections (AVR) as some components including a new primary tv aren't here yet.

Thanks.
Jeff.

50' is a long run for HDMI. You may need a repeater. Go to Monoprice and see if a repeater is required. With HDMI - a digital signal, it with either get through, or it won't.

I saw 35-40 feet. I do a 35 ft with out issue. If 50 is needed Monoprice has them.

I'm still concerned about picture degradation.

The primary tv's PQ is paramount yet the remote tv's PQ is still important.

Will the component cable to remote tv still produce a quality picture?

Thanks again.

Jeff.
