Whats a reasonable viewing angle for a HDTV? Some brands like Olevia and Element 32 inch showed 178 degrees and 170 degrees respectively. Is this good for that size screen? Or does the screen size matter?

That is a respectable viewing angle for sure with LCD's. One major problem is that the tech specs claim their TV's can be shown at those degrees but come nowhere near. For example I had a Toshiba Regza with those claims and it was terrible; if you were not directly straight on with the TV the picture looked white washed!

I will start out by saying I'm brand new here, and know very little about this subject. I purchased the Tosh 47hl167 and have noticed the viewing angle is horrible. I do not seem to have the green push problem, and the picture is great staight on, but if you move to one side or the other the picture looks washed out. Is there anything that can be done by changing the settings to make this any better??

A proper setup may help a bit.

However, LCDs are known for not having the best viewing angles (despite the claims of viewing angle)

skleafers,
Hi,

I just recently returned this TV and it has one of poorest viewing angles I have ever seen. I was able to live with that, but I had the "Green Tint" issues and it had to go.

Mech,

Hey, Yeah I will have to live with the viewing angle problem. I bought it online from Beach Camera so I can't just return it. Did you try to adjust anything so it doesn't look so washed out? Also, I noticed you liked the set at first, did the green push problem just get more noticeable?

What brand was it, skleafers? I always look at the TVs on display from the sides. I noticed that most LCDs have reasonable viewing angles. I guess recent manufactured LCD TVs have improved on this.

Hi,

Well it's a pretty common issue with these TV's. The poor viewing angle is just something you are stuck with, but the green push is a serious well known defect in many of these Regza models. Before I returned my Tosh I did some adjustments for the green tint. I never truly got rid of it and in the process I washed out some of the other colors. I would honestly fight this and either ask for a refund or another Tosh and pray it's not a Green one.
