My wife and I bought a Zenith C36V23 a couple of weeks ago and love it so far. The only problem is we're getting lip flap when watching DVDs. We're connecting the DVD player to the TV with an S-video cable. For audio, we're using cabling each channel for 5.1 surround from the DVD player to an Awia receiver. The audio is leading the video by a split second, but it's enough to be noticable and annoying from time to time. Anyone else run into a similar problem or have any suggestion?
Thanks,
Dave Seidel
Welcome to the forum:
There have been a number of DVD players with this problem. How to diagnose?
1. Try a different DVD. If all DVDs do it, go to 2.
2. Take the DVD player back to where you bought it and hook it up using the same DVD to their TV/Receiver. (Sometimes the problem may only be on the digital track and not on analogue...)
Sometimes manufacturers have a way to "upgrade" the ROM in the DVD player by sending you a DVD to do this. You may wish to check with the manufacturer. Which DVD player do you have?
One of the problem players was the Hitachi 725.

david if you are using the dvd player to decode the 5.1 signal and then pipe it out to the TV there should be a setting under the advanced option to either delay or send the sound out a few fractions of a second faster. I know this is the case for the several Sony DVD players that output 5.1 analog out (as the one I have now has a setting for it) and my first generation RCA DVD Player from like 6 years ago which was one of the first few to output 5.1 analog out also had an adjustment for it.

Leth,
I've searched the menus and can't find any settings that seem to apply. I'm using a Sony DVP-S530D. Any advice on how you found the settings?
Thanks,
Dave Seidel
I apologize I made a mistake, there is in fact no setting for the delay on the sonys, I thought it was there (never really went into audio setup as i let my reciever do the decoding) and i went back and hooked up my RCA it did indeed have the setting for Delay for each individual speaker or the collective set. I apologize.
