Hi guys, I just bought a Zenith C27V22 HDTV, and xbox plays fine with the normal a/v wires, but when I hook up the monster component cables I bought, the tv says "Please connect a valid video format, then press enter, 480p HD1080i 60Hz" and it just sits at that screen, any ideas?

Thanks,
glock

Your TV probably does not accept 720p signals.

make sure your xbox video setup is set for 720p:no
and 1080i:yes
I would prob also set 480p to no and let the TV do the upconvert.
Try the 480p setting both ways and see which one looks better.

I have the same issue with my Panasonic 47WX42.

That I know of there is only 1 1080i game for XBOX

I don't see anything in my xbox setup about setting the specific frequency like 720p or anything, I just see a widescreen, or normal setting, any ideas? thanks..

When I connected a XBOX to my TV the settings for resolution were in the same screen as the widescreen setting. There were 4 settings on that screen. Widescreen option then a yes/no for the three resolutions

I did use the "XBOX" branded HD (component) cables. Could be Micro$oft put some kind of enabler connection in their cables.

You may try the XBOX cable. If you do, get it from CC or some place you can take it back w/out hassle if it still doesn't work.

Chaz is correct, these Zenith sets only accept 480p or 1080i on the HD component inputs (they'll accept 480i on the SD component input).

I have the same set and the same Monster Cables. Works fine for 480p, but a pain to switch jacks back 480i everytime. Hope you got it to work. Anyone know how to access the convergance menu? I got the service menu by pressing and holding the menu button until the menu goes away, and then pressing 9-8-7-6 Enter. Lots of cryptic stuff in there, but I got my colors to look better (a little too much red).

Thanks for the tip! I'm trying to find a service manual for this set (did I say it was a Zenith C27V22 already?) I found on other Zenith models that holding the menu button till the screen goes blank then pressing 9-8-7-5-enter will get you a convergance menu, but not on my set, so I guess I'm outa luck there. Using the Avia disc and doing the "color decoder check" I get ghosts on my red and green bars :( It's also a problem when I watch The Family Guy DVDs! :mecry: The dot test patterns have very faint ghosts. Any help?

Zenith tech support was not forthcoming at all on this model, they basically told me (a) no service manual's available and (b) you have to have one of their techs do the tweaking through the service menu. I did the 9-8-7-6 thing too but didn't see anything useful on that set of menus.

Well I have a few questions and notes:

I get ghosting on 480p mode via component as well. But if I set my DVD player to upconvert to 1080i in HD component input, or in VGA (DVI to VGA adaptor) I get no ghosting. Only seems to appear in my HD component input set to 480p...but this isn't the problem that's really bothering me...

I need to adjust the "tilt" of my C27V22 as I just noticed that it is off enough to annoy me now. I messed with the service menu and could not find a true tilt adjust function...just some angle adjusts and what not...

Should I just call and have it serviced?

I have the same ghosting and tilt problem too, I ignore it until I forget about it. I'm leaving this set with my parents and brother when I move out. I'll be using a 27 inch Sony Wega 300. As for HD, I will be saving up for HP's F2304
