Hi all. I'm hoping someone can help me out with a question about digital tiling. I own an NEC 61" plasma TV monitor (Model PX-61XR4A) receiving signal from Cox Cable in San Diego via a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250 HD box. After watching TV for about two hours, the picture starts "tiling", getting progressively worse over the next hour or so until it is virtually unwatchable. I have had the Cox people out twice, and they assure me that my signal strength at the box is fine -- and they even replaced the box in the last visit, to no avail.
The tiling only occurs after the TV has been on for a while and interestingly, I can temporarily "cure" the problem by merely switching off the monitor power for about 30 seconds. This "buys" me about 5 -10 minutes of clear picture before the tiling starts up again -- which leads me to believe that the problem is with the monitor and not the cable signal or the box. However, even when the tiling is at its worst, I can immediately switch the input signal from the cable box to DVD (albeit not HD-DVD), and there is no hint of tiling -- which in turn leads me to believe the problem actually is with the cable signal (or the box). And yet, if there were a problem with signal strength, why would it take so long to appear in each session, and why would it temporarily disappear when I switch the minitor power off?
Anybody out there seen this kind of thing before or have any good advice about how to address the issue?
Thanks!
