Any comments on this player
My HItachi 57swx comes this week and I am upgrading from a Sony 600D (non progressive) to the Pioneer DV45a
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated
Thanks
Welcome to the forum: Although magazines have praised these Pioneer units, this particular one finished dead last in the --> DVD Player Shootout. (http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/cgi-bin/shootout.cgi?function=search&articles=5)

amazing!!
I have read some reviews on this "chroma Bug" I have this DVD player on layaway at a very reputable Audio Dealer, I basically cant afford there higher end DVD units ranging anywhere from 750 to 2000. This unit is the second cheapest at $460.00, (Yamaha s530 being the cheapest).
Oh well

Are you looking at it for the video quality or for the ability to do DVD-audio and SACD.

Just the video quality
also like others it seems to be able to play different formats. I am not a Panasonic fan, but I have read up on others. The Fauroda (sp) chip players I would like to look at also, but they step up in price. I am somewhat critical on what I watch and listen to.

I was told by my audio shop that the digital coax is a better connection than the optical for a DVD player. He is ISF certified, so I am assuming he is right. Any input from you guys on this?
Thanks

Why would he say it is better? What would make it better? What I would do is let them show you the difference. If you want the best for the money,
I would hit E-Bay and find a Panasonic RP82 before they are all gone.
See --> This Thread (http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1312&highlight=optical). The debate raged on for 26 posts....

Hey KW
More or less its a more efficient connection, I am good with technology and understood what he was saying but, you know I could spend the 30 bucks on a new Superbit DVD to try out. I am a believer in creating the best "bandwidth", less resistance connection, to get the best possible results, but I am not an expert on Coax digital vs Optical digital. He says there is a noticeable difference.
Thanks for the responses, this board is definitly educating me in the system I am buying.
