I am using a WinTv-HVR-1600 capture card with qam, and have Comcast digital cable, I have a antenna attached to the ATSC connector, and I get great OTA with my local stations. My question is to use qam do I not use the cable box and connect my coax to the TV analog connector or the ATSC connector. If it has to be attached to the ATSC no more OTA, only benefit I see is a few more stations, any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

You don't use the cable box, you'll need to check the documentation that came with your card to determine which input to use on the card.

You can use a QAM tuner to view unencrypted cable channels via RF-coax, however, if you wish to view encrypted channels, then you'll need a STB and use an S-video connection for SD and/or firewire (if applicable/available) for HD. See:
