I have a samsung Hcn 42" RP HDTV and a Comcast Motorola DCH3416 dual tuner HD DVR

The DVR has an HDMI out but my TV has a DVI IN, When running the HDMI to DVI i'm wondering is does the HDMI carry sound as well and if it does, does the DVI accept the sound signal sent by the HDMI or will I have to run separate sound cables.

Also I have 2 component inputs, My HD DVR only works on one of them, But My dvd player works on both, yet playstation 2 only works on one of them, so when I get the HDMI to DVI cable does it run on its own input such as DVI or will it take up one of the other component inputs?

Thanks for the help

DVI doesn't carry audio. You need to run separate analogue audio (red/white) cables to the TV to the audio inputs associated with the DVI input - sometimes this may be a mini-jack, or sometimes the regular inputs.

One of your component video inputs may be limited to 480p? It looks like the TV doesn't accept 720P signals. Check your operating manual.

See the following for the STB setup.

Be advised the that the DVI input needs to be HDCP compliant - not sure if yours is - check the specs near the back of the operating manual to see if it says DVI/HDCP.
