Is there some kind of set top HD recording unit on the market that will record HD programs in HD and play them back in HD?

I was thinking of something like 'TIVO'...basically a hard drive. Perhaps even a special video cassette recorder similar to super VHS...

Forgive me if this subject has already been covered...

The only other option is a rather convoluted one that can be fairly difficult to implement, unless you ahve some technical savvy. And that is to use a PC with an HDTV tuner card, such as the Telemann HiPix or the Access DTV card. It's actually pretty simple if you are just wanting to use it connected to an OTA antenna to get your local HDTV stations, but if you want to record any of the satellite stations, such as HBO-HD, it's a whole different ball game.

I have been using the 169time product mod on my dtc100's for ages and it works great. Am getting a nice colllection of HD movies in my collection.
