I'm looking to get a surge protector for a sony 40' XBR for under 100 bucks (probably 50-70), is it really worth it to go for one that "cleans" the power supply as well? All I will have in my setup is the tv, a digital cable box, and a dvd player.
Got any recommendations for anything specific products in my price range?
Thanks.
Mon$ter products are rarely worth the price. Usually an equivalent product from another manufacturer costs far less - often less than half the price.
If the Mon$ter product is less than half price, perhaps it can be worth it, however, I refuse to purchase their products on principle.

I suggest you get an inexpensive UPS, plug the cable box (especially if it's a PVR) into the battery protected side and the heavier users (TV) into the surge protected only side. "Clean power" is mostly a myth, especially in this price range. You should be able to get one for $50 or less.

I don't think Monster has any for under a 100.

They do, but for about the same price you can get a Panamax, or for less you can get a Tripplite or CyberPower unit which are close in quality and protection.
