I bought an HD DVD and Blueray player this Christmas.
Both are connected with HDMI cables through my Denon 3806 AV Receiver.
My DVR is also connected via HDMI and the picture quality is awesome.
However both DVD players are not as bright playing HD discs as I would like on a lot of movies.
The upconverting HDMI DVD player I was using before
never had this issue.
Does anyone make an HDMI inline box with a dial that would allow me to increase the brightness of the signal to my satisfaction.
Or should I try using component cables.
My 72"DLP HDTV is already set to maximum brightness and the Blueray player is set on bright room but I would still like the picture about 10% brighter.
Any help would be appreciated.

Color temperature settings may help. They are most likely presets like "vivid", or other such descriptive terms. But frankly my best advice is to turn the brightness down. You are likely ruining your picture by having it set too bright. I am very particular about the black and white levels of my TV. Black is called brightness. White is called contrast or picture. You might get a DVD with test paterns to help you properly adjust your set. When you have it set properly it will make a big difference. You did not mention SD. I notice the compression of SD a lot more if the black level is set too high. Even HD can wind up looking compressed if it is set badly. Think about it.
