Hello, I am From México y I need your help (PLEASE) with some questions.... I recently bought a TV SONY model: KDL-52W300 and I watch HD and Standar definitión (dish network) and with both I am having something that I read is "macroblocking" or "motion artifacts" I undestand that the problem is related with the signal input but I dont know why with my last set (51" Hitachi-rear proyection) I had´t this problem. The question is if with other TV Im tinking on DLP or LCD Rear Proyection... Am i going to have the same problem or not ? other thing .. Can I return the kdl-52w300 to best buy without problems with 30 days return policy?? and I bought 4-years protection Plan ... what happens with this money??
... thanks a lot ...

Macroblocking is often made worse when the TV is on its default settings - like vivid or dynamic. After you do a proper setup of the TV, the macroblocking should be less visible:

It's important that you use a different picture mode (like custom) on your TV and to turn off the various edge enhancement features (automatic settings) as well as reducing the sharpness.

You have purchased an excellent TV and it is showing you a lot more detail than your previous RPTV, so you will notice macroblocking and other compression artifacts more, but a proper setup as mentioned above should help. You may wish to consider somehow feeding an HD signal to your excellent TV.

Like said above you picked out an excellent TV. Set up properly and a good signal macroblocking should be minimal. How old is your Dish Network reciever? What is you signal strength on your dish?

 thank you for your comments ... Im trying to adjust it with your recomendations and I think its working a little better but I see that one of the issues is when some programs where show water in movement, this part of the screen it looks with a little clear squars .. I dont know if somebody else have the same situation; I have dish 811 (mpeg2) here in Mexico we dont have easy acces to other receiver with HD but if I get dish 211 or something Like that (mpeg4) will be the same? or am i going ta have some improvement ..... thanks for your help from Mexico.

Macroblocking is "normal" under certain conditions - fast movement on screen, water, flocks of birds, strobe light effects, confetti, etc. Whenever a lot of the image on the screen changes, then you will see macroblocking - it's simply a limit of MPEG compression.

By turning down sharpness and turning off the edge enhancements, the macroblocking becomes less of an issue, but doesn't go away, even on HD.

Of course, the more compression that the service provider does due to limited bandwidth, the worse the issue gets. Some channels can be much worse than others. They usually provide more bandwidth to the more-watched, or premium channels and less to the less-watched ones.
