I have recently purchased a Yamaha HTR-6030 receiver. I have been sucessfully running my DVD player into and out of this receiver via component video for a couple of weeks.

This evening I attempted to also plug in my Satellite receiver into one of the receivers additional component video inputs.

I now have no video output from the component video monitor output, including the DVD player that was working as recently as last night.

I have plugged everything directly into the TV to verify all the individual pieces of hardware are working and sending signal. I think I have narrowed it down to the output not pushing signal to the TV. (the COMPOSITE video DOES work). After looking through the user manual for the receiver I don't see any options or setting I could have altered that would prevent it from using that output. Any ideas or does this need to go bacl to Yamaha?

 Grrrr. My Sony STR-DE485 receiver appears to be shot, at least partially. A couple of weeks ago my satellite speakers began this sporadic loud popping. It only happened maybe four times since the problem first began & I initially thought it was something caused by the audio signal source. At one point the receiver shut off the output to my speakers and PROTECT started flashing on the screen. Cured that by power cycling the receiver but after that the receiver would no longer respond to commands from my Harmony One. Popped fresh batteries in the remote that came with the home theater system & tried to operate the receiver, no go. :sightv:

I thought the IR sensor had probably failed after this test. Yesterday when I manually turned on the receiver it went right to PROTECT mode after a few seconds. Does that no matter which function button I press to switch between components. After some further troubleshooting & research I did today I found a response from a guy called barneyluc on fixya.com who is reportedly a Sony and Yamaha trained A/V tech. According to his response to someone who has the same problem with a different Sony receiver the output section is shorted and is sending its supply voltage straight to the speakers. The protect circuit has kicked in to protect the speakers from getting fried. If this is accurate then I'll either have to get the unit serviced or start shopping for a new one.

Any thoughts?
