going off my dish receiver since hdmi is used in living room leaving component unused. So i ran the 50 ft cables back to my bedroom and the picture is there but a pink bar and a slight hum on audio.??..???

EDIT:Feb 16th

I checked out the 50ft cable ran some tests of my own and here is what happened.

1-The tv I want it to be hooked up to gives me a pink and green bar.(50 inch Samsung 720p dlp) aside from the bars its a nice picture.
2- Then I tried hooking it up to the tv in the living room which is where the dish network box is anyway so i hooked it to an empty component spot and it came through crisp.( so i know the cable works)
that tv is (52 inch samsung 1080p)

Is there any settings that can cure this or has anyone else had this problem?

50' is the practical limit for component video cables. What brand/type cables?

Most likely should have reversed it and sent HDMI to the upstairs and component to the downstairs.

your probably right. What if i get a hdmi splitter and then get a 50 foot hdmi cable would that work better?

Or just use some well shielded cable and check the grounding. Coax works fine for component and while there may be a slight softening at 50', for a second system it should be OK.
