Here's my new setup:
Sony KDL52XBR4
Verizon FIOS via HDMI on HDMI 1
Playstation 3 via HDMI on HDMI 2
Oppo DV981HD via HDMI on HDMI 3
I added the PS3 about 1 week after getting TV and setting up with the cable and DVD. Both hookups appeared to be working fine.
Hooked up the PS3 to HDMI 2 (on the side of the TV). Start up system and when menu appears the screen looks as though ants are racing (white dots that appear to sprint across the TV screen- for you younger ones out there we used to call "white noise" the ant races) across it and the speakers are creating a popping sound. I updated the firmware to the latest version...at one point the issue stopped, but then restarted. When I play a Blue-ray disc- looks great, no problem. Play a game- looks great, no problem.
While trying to troubleshoot the issue, I switched the Oppo and the PS3 HDMI connections. The PS3 menu now displays as one would expect. I don't see the ant racing nor hear the popping with the Oppo on HDMI 2.
Anyone else encounter this? How was the issue resolved?
Thanks
RR
