Hi all,
I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row to get hdtv. Our house is wired with Belden 1694 3G cable(?). I have Directv with the signal going a splitter in a panel and feeding rooms in the house from there. I planned on upgrading to hd stb in the basement with hdtv purchase. Now I understand hd won't run on my cable and I need to get RG-6. I'll have two tvs to feed, one analog and one hd. Will RG-6 serve both? Do I have to run the RG-6 to the hd stb or can I use my existing splitter?
Thanks
A future 57swx'er

RG-6 throughout will solve all of your problems for getting the signal to your location. I suggest runnign 3 to the HD location and at least two to all other locations. This will allow you to have a dual tuner Tivo unit or a combination of SAT/CBL/ANT. Drop 2 CAT5 cables while your at it. From what I understand, Samsung will have a new STB this year with HD, Tivo (Dual tuner), Cable and Antenna Tuner all in one. It will record from all formats, but you'll need three cables to get it all there.

Hey Skyboss thanks for the help. Wish I'd known that 2 years ago when we built... I'm sure it will be worth it when it's all set up and I see hd.

Just visited Belden's website. My cable is RG-6. Thought it would say on the insulation. Thanks anyway.
