I'm looking to get a tv pretty soon, and being that sony has released their model lineup for 2008:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=8198552921644539863

Right now I can get a 52W3000 for 2429.99$ +tax or a 46W3000 for 2024.99$ +tax with Circuit City's 10% off for president's day sale, ending Feb 20th.

Do we expect 08 models to have a similar price point when they hit the street, or will they likely demand a premium for a while? And when exactly do we expect the new models to make it into stores (and can you actually find them)?

Thanks for any replies.

Hello jhokie. I'd go for the 52W3000 (I did go for it actually! :D ). When it comes to HD bigger truly is better.

Have a look at the following threads for more information.

New models usually carry a premium on them for a while. Depending how quickly you want one. You may find out when the new Sony models come out the 52W3000 drops even cheaper. Looks like the new W series is going to be similar specs to the XBR's that are currently out right now. Biggest thing I can see is the 120Hz on the new models.

May want to do some digging on when exactly the new models are suppose to hit showrooms. I see Sony says spring so I guess that means in the next three months.

I'm in the market for a 50"+ HDTV and saw in yesterday's paper an ad for Boscov's Department Store. They're selling the 52" XBR4 model for $2799.
