Hey all,
Well, I'm starting to search for my first HDTV. I went to Circuit City and best and got a lot of information. However, I don't feel that they know much about what they are saying (some do I'm sure) so I wanted to get some opinions from you guys and gals.

My budget is at $1200 or less for a 37" - 42" HDTV. I found this 40" at Circuit City. It seemed to have a good picture when I was viewing it. It has 1080p, 10000:1, 3 HDMI inputs, etc. It seems to have everything I was looking for. However, it seemed to be on the cheap side for that size of TV. Does anybody have any opinions on this one? I heard that hertz might be important too but don't see that spec listed on their site. If anybody has a better recommendation for my price range I'd appreciate that as well.

Edit: Here is a link (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-40-LCD-HDTV-LN-T4061F/sem/rpsm/oid/174198/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) to the TV.

We are going to need to know at least the manufactuer of the TV. Was it a Sony? Samsung? Etc. A model number would help also, as there are many 40" HDTV's in the stores.

The Samsung's aren't to bad of a TV overall. I think you'd be quite happy with that TV.

It depends on which Samsung you buy. I had a 32" Samsung that I had to return for various problems - audio would cut out with the HDMI inputs and the fan would get loud when it was on. The audio problem is a known issue and there are many reviews about it on the web. The fan issue was probably just my TV. I wound up getting a 32" Sony Bravia and I haven't looked back. Actually, I do miss the nice way the Samsung looked, but the Sony overall is working great.

A Sony is going to cost more, but it's a solid TV. Just read the reviews on the particular model you are looking to purchase. When I bought my TV's, I didn't have a chance to read the reviews till after I got the TV's home. And sometimes you'll find things that are discouraging, like the audio issues of the Samsungs for instance. Not all Samsungs are bad, but a thorough look online at reviews will help you in determining which TV is the one to get.
