the Mitsubishi DD6030 claims 540 lines of horizontal resolution...

would that not mean that it outputs in 540p

all of the prog players that I read about keep talking about 480p

what's the deal is the mits player better or are they comparing two different terms...

if you want to know where I saw the text claiming 540 lines it's in the ultimate Electronics brocure.

Even though the unit has 540 lines of resolution, it will output at 480P. TVs do not accept 540P as far as I can tell.

Some RPTVs like Toshiba and Hitachi display at 540P (and 1080i by user selection) when they upconvert 480i or 480P signals.

Remember that this 480, 540 and 1080 is the vertical scan rate, not horizontal resolution. I would hope the horizontal resolution is higher. Most HDTVs have a horizontal resolution of 1000+ lines depending on the type/model.

ahhh typical marketing hype caught my eye, good thing I was smart enough to question what it said....

if I had run out and bought it I might have to reply to every post that said UltimateElectronics and complain about their "fast talking salesmen who sold me something that I don't want or need" (sound familiar)??? hhahahahaha
