Brightness with avia i need some advice.

Theres 1 setting im trying to figure out which is just right on my tv but the avia disks confuse me. I have avia 1 and avia 2 and i also have the incredible with thx adjusting. i have my contrast set right at 47 because at 48 i see thresholding on thx and bars disapear on avia at 48 but on the brighness im pretty confused. on Avia 1 the guide says adjust the bars till the left bar is essintally invisable and on avia 2 the guy says adjust it till the left bar is just barely visable and on THX its a bit harder to tell which is best. If i cant get my brightness just right which is better a notch higher or lower then normal?

Brightness is really black level. Higher brightness will give you more details in the shadows and wash out the image more. Lower brightness will give you deeper blacks, but fewer shadow details. The choice is yours as to what you prefer.

Also realize that different programmes may lend themselves to different settings.

do you know a movie i should use to set the brightness? liek a movie that has a certain scene i need to use to set the black level with the balck bars? the avia disk kinda confuse me. WHich avia disk do i trust?
