Hi,
My father bought a Sony Wega KDF-E60A20 from Sam's a year ago. They
claimed it was brand new, even though it was manufactured in 1995.

Anyways, he has had it for a little over a year and periodically while
watching the TV it will go Total Black for a Second then the program
comes back on. The TV does not shut down and repower it just goes Black
for a second, and comes back on. This happens the longer it stays on.

I called Sony Tech Support they were no help, all they did was give me some service providers in Virginia. My father lives in West Virgina.

Anyway i checked out the Tv, because the only thing I could think of
was that it must be overheating. Checked Fan still running, Checked
Color Wheel still good.

Anybody heard of this or got any ideas before I call a local
tech. guy to come out and look at it.

Thanks for all the Support...

Sounds like a connection issue. Are you using HDMI? What do you have connected to the TV and how? See the following threads. I assume you meant 2005.

If you've got nothing connected to the TV, then there may be an internal problem.

It was bought New in Box at Sam's on 8/2007. I didn't realize it was made in
1995 until I got behind it and saw manufacture date.

The Tv has one HDMI connection. So it is hooked by HDTV box via HDMI to
a 2 HDMI splitter where the HDTV goes in one and the HDMI cable from the
HDDVD Player goes in the other. And the splitter has two buttons on front to
switch back and forth.

Cables and Splittter were purchased from Monoprice.com. The Splitter was
around $20.00, but I saw the exact same one at my local Sears for $99.99.

Any ideas or should I just try trial and error....

Thanks for the help.

Again, I assume you meant 2005. That model was not built in 1995. I provided a list of things to check. Try going directly from the STB (you didn't mention make/model) to the TV, or using component video cables, also recommended in one of the links I provided.
