It could also be a setting on the TV - too much contrast perhaps? Have you calibrated that input? Most TVs remember the calibration for each input and if you've just started using that input, perhaps it's still in the default vivid mode?

i used the thx thing and for some reason i can only see 6 squares on the contrast setting even when its on low i updated my gpu driver and then there was no squares at all i tryed my dvi to vga adpater to run vga to my tv and its smeared also i tryed hooking just the tv to my normal vga out of my gpu and its smeared also on my pc montior its not. Can cheap vga cables cause this? my whites dont bleed or smear at all on any other input on my tv so i donno why this would. I got the VGA cable off ebay for like 4$

Not to be nasty... but after reading all your posts here (and other forums), you seem to have problems with PC's, Xbox, DVD, DVE discs, etc.... and can't seem to get things displayed to your satisfaction.

Have you considered a different TV? ;)

Based on all of your posts, I believe you have gotten the best pic possible with respect to using just the user menu settings. The TV you have has limited user settings, so there is only so much calibration you can do. To get the "best" pic possible, you need a professional calibration, and I think you said you wouldn't get one. And for $300+, I'm in the same boat. I calibrated my TV myself. It's not perfect, close though, but it looks damn good. :drool11:

Some TV's might not be good when used as a computer monitor. Your best bet is to do a search online for your tv and read user reviews. You might find a review that talks about the vga input or color issues. You might also have to expand your search to a larger model, as sometimes companies like CNET will review a larger model of tv, yet the specs are the same for a smaller one.

im just wanting ti know if it could be my cord or a pc driver i dont have a 360 vga to test the port on my tv. Also on my hdmi 360 problems with my tv i can confirm its not a prob with my tv because i just hooked my xbox to a sony wega with hdmi and it also has this weird shallow checkerboad effects int he blacks. my ps3 doesnt have this problem so either 360 hdmi is just made like this or my 360 is messed up. tryed official hdmi stuff and my ps3 hdmi cord and port still there. Anyway back on topic. Should i buy a better brand vga cord or could this just be my gpu not working right with it? The problems i had before are mainly fixed i was seeing alot of green and figured out i had my color way to high and was oversaturating reds and greens. the vga thing is basicly the only problem im having besides my 360s hdmi but again it has to be the 360 doing that.
