Hi all,
I haven’t been on here in a while, so I hope everyone is doing well. My receiver has crapped out on me, so I am buying a new one. I have a PS3 and would like to take advantage of the uncompressed audio that Blu-ray has to offer. I am kind of new to this, so I did some research, and am posting to make sure that I understand everything correctly.
It is my understanding that the PS3 will do the decoding of the uncompressed audio, so I do not require a receiver that has this function like the Onkyo TX-SR605. I only require a receiver that will except the PCM audio via HDMI like the
Sony STR-DG710.
If I am correct on all of this, I have two questions. First, if the PS3 and Blu-ray players in general can decode the audio, are their any advantages to owning a receiver that has this functionality? Second, does the PS3 decode DTS HD?
Thanks
