I have read that particular model may have a problem reading some DVDs. Also, the picture quality is a little soft, and the remote and navigation menus are not set up too well.

I have found the overall opinion on this player to be OK for the price, but may have some reliability issues.

From what i also heard (on other forums) is that it does put out a good picture but its very prone to breaking such as the dvd cover on the tray breaks. For the price, go buy a different progressive player thats better, off of ebay.

how can i get the 720p mode? DVD players don't have a 720P mode. The best they can do with progressive scan is 480P. There is probably a switch on the back or a menu item, or both to enable progressive or interlaced modes.

For those intersted, watch for the release of the new Samsung 720P DVD expected June 2003 for approx. $350 US.
