We've had our TV since Jan04, still with the original bulb, over 9000 hours so far. Today the set comes on, shows a pic, then blacks out, power light still solid green. If I press the picture button on the remote repeatedly, the pic will come back for a couple of seconds and then go out again, power light still solid green. Switched the channel so I could check the audio (audio is fixed) and I got the white noise along with pic for a few seconds again then both pic and sound gone , power light still ok. I let it set with a black screen and every couple of minutes it would again show a pic for a few seconds before fading out. If I left it like that for five minutes or so it would finally shut down, the power light would go red then after a bit would blink red. I called Sony and the gent said it wasn't a major repair but since it showed a good pic for a few seconds it wasn't the lamp either. The nearest Sony authorized facility worth a flip is over 60 miles away. Any thoughts?
