OK, this has been a difficult one for me. I've been shopping for nearly a year now and have had difficulty with one question - Which manufacturer produces the best quality picture with STANDARD BROADCASTS? I know who my favorites are in the HD world (Sony and Samsung), but so far only the Samsung can deal even remotely adequately with standard broadcast images, especially motion. The part that bugs me is that so far NOBODY seems to get that this is still the majority of content out there and until the world is 60-70% HD, we'll all be watching a large part of our TV using standard broadcast quality. So maybe I've missed a thread that's been here forever - and if so just point me and I'll go away. In the meantime - who produces the best quality picture of standard broadcasts? It's come down to that.

Actually Sony is one of the better manufacturers regarding SD PQ. See the following thread on the topic, as a proper setup of the TV, and proper settings of the STB, along with appropriate connections often have more to do with good PQ, than the TV choice.
