Friends,

I recently bought this TV which currently has 720p/1080i output.

Samsung 450 (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&MSCSProfile=3C79F0C7EA3162B2D7ADAC57314A0E6A2077380E659AA5F596C602D4C88CD8F121B6781499F67A2C78C3257ABB30F92BCEC8ECE8B6C539379363C2F98A5197960FF8083FB920B934592CCEDD306F871DD3FA43D4F6200711C13D4FD62C6EC1E7CAE8A53B50F7BB5318563B427FA382C09A8F00BB335F3C0B09757A3B8E475CE4D6E55EF8C97624D8517C805FAEE871850BFEF428538BA974C4B3BCF5BD199FAEABCC26325BD0F71A8BAEE35A5C5707CB91483CF152128E0B8B319B49E2941EFB43F33AD5B152A4EF&sku_id=0770HDS0010099580&catid=)

However, I have just bought a PS3 and wondering if it is worth the extra $400 for the next model up in the same TV for 1080p capability. The TV can be found here:

Tough call.

Are you able to return the other TV for the full price? If so then I'd consider it more for the part that eventually 1080p will be used much more frequently and if your like most people you keep your TV for a good 7 to 10 years and in the mean time you got you PS3 to take advantage of it. If you can't return it I'd keep what you got unless money really isn't an issue.

P.S.: Chances are your not going to see great deal of difference in picture quality depending on how much of videophile nut you are. Though it will be there.

The first TV is 768P, while the second is 1080P. See the following:

At 40", it would depend on how close you sit to the TV as to whether 1080P makes any difference from a resolution only standpoint. You'd probably need to sit closer than 6-7' to notice.

Proper setup of the TV, etc are also important. See the following thread:
