First off I want to say what a great forum this is. There is a ton of information here for any newbie getting into HDTV such as my self. I learned alot from reading these posts.

I finally got hooked up with HD from Cablevision this weekend. I believe they just rolled it out as of March 1. Currently they are providing 4 channels MSGHD, FoxsportsHD, HBOHD and ShowtimeHD. I currently have the first three. I have to say that the HBOHD looks great but I am not convinced about the Foxsports and MSG. I was checking it all weekend and I couldn't tell if I was watching HD or not. The picture seemed sharper but both channels were not in widescreen. I had the blackbars on the sides. (with the new HD box, non-HD channels have gray bars on the sides)

I know there is a section in this forum for Cablevision but it seems kinda empty. I was wondering if anyone else subscribed to this or has any info on these channels.

Thanks

I have the same thing happening to me.................The 2 sports channels are not in widescreen....I wonder why...

Anyone have an answer to this??

The other 2 channels (HBOHD and SHOWTIMEHD) are widescreen. Just not the sports channels

Thanks in advance

Actually if you are watching the hockey games that are on tonight (monday) they are in widescreen. It seems that only the games are true HD

HUGE improvement compared to the regular channels

I just hope they get their act together and add a few more channels.

Only live home games will be available in HD. I asked when I got the box. I was asking if the Met games this year would be in HD. i was told only the home games would be in widescreen.
