We all talk about the extra charges for premium services for our cable but how about for Media and inforamtion from the internet. Soon the internet will be a pay to view or play like satelite/cable.

I personally am at the point where the internet is more frustrating than beneficial. The forums are fantastic and when I need to research something I love it. However I' m so sick of all of the popups, the sites that automatically set their website to your home page, the sites that don't let you go back, etc. I will never pay for anything on the internet. The internet was best around a 1.5 years ago and now mostly crap. If it continues to get worse I will simply live without it.

Try using a real browser like opera or mozilla and disable popups. I have none of these problems while using opera.

I've used two pop-up killers, one downloaded for $29.95 from http://www.panicware.com , and the other which I'm using now is part of Norton Internet Security. Both work fine and stopped 95% of all pop-ups. Panicware offers a rudimentary pop-up stopper for free. There are many other pop-up killers available for download, just search Google.

For Mozilla? They make a version for Windows: Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org/)

As far as Pop-ups go, I wouldn't want to use a "Pop-up Killer" because they often will close new windows that might be beneficial, or necessary to the user. I've got a friend who cannot access a certain account online because his pop-up killer closes the log-in window before he can see it!

I do agree, though, that I miss the days of "Sign up, Free!" this, and "free unlimited access" that. I went to a Walkthrough website the other day to help me out on getting through a video game, and I could only view a few pages before they asked me to register for $5 a month!?!

Honestly, though...Pop-ups don't bother me too much. What does bother me are those Java/Flash banners that wiggle about the whole damned screen! Like on TechTV (http://www.techtv.com/) with damned cars that "Zoom Zoom!" across the screen.

No, both are available for windows and I believe also Mac. In fact the opera always releases windows versions first.

Thanks Mike...I found gamefaqs.com not too long afterwards through Google. It is quite a plethora of videogame facts.

Hey BC, tell your friend to use the Pop-Up Stopper from Panicware. All he needs to do is hold down the Ctrl key and it will allow that log-in window (or any other of his choosing) to open.
