About 3 weeks ago I replaced the Bulb in my KDSR50XBR1 for the first time and I thought all was well at least for the next couple of years however today the new Bulb is blown?!?! Has anyone experienced the same scenario as me where they replaced a bulb and less than a month later it had to be changed again? I contacted the Sony store that I purchased it and they found it strange however said that they come with a 90 day warranty so I guess it is not that big of an issue but it still burns me that it just seems as though it is beginning to be one issue after the other.

It is possible that a problem with a power supply or lamp ballast can eat lamps. Rare, but it has been known to happen occasionally. Most of the lamps have been lasting more than 6000h, at least on our clients' sets.

Thanks for the info. Well it wasn't as bad as I thought, when I got home my wife said the light for the Lamp on the front panel was flashing however it turned out to be the Standby light. It was flashing 3 times consecutively indicating the door for the access to the lamp was not secure. After a turn of the screwdriver to tighten it the light went off and all is perfect again. I was surprised to say the least that there was some kind of sensor which would detect that but then again I am not an expert.
