I must say I am dissapointed that this expensive (to me) TV lasted only 3 years befor requiring more money to fix.
Symptoms Before: When turn on TV, get sound but screen is pink with light colored horizontal lines. Pulled front cover off between speakers to see. Turn on and get same results plus hear/see arcing near red HV wire at bottom and from circuit board on center projection tube. All three tubes (red grn, blu) light, then arcing, then screen collapses to vertical red and blue lines then TV turns off.
I noticed a clear orderless liquid on bottom in center, and HV wire in it. Liquid is on several wires and bottom of center tube board. Traced liquid appears to have come from center tube, I think (are these liquid filled?). Cleaned off all wires and center tube board with paper towel. Turn on TV but still same results (pink screen, arcing, screen collapse, off).
Noticed solder splash had fallen onto bottom. Took board off center tube, to inspect bottom of board. Cleaned thouroughly with paper towel, disconnected/wiped front 3-wire connector (coated with liquid) and rear center ribbon connector (could not remove left or right ribbon, fear damaging board), trimmed component leads. Replaced board and cleaned all wires and surfaces of this liquid.
Symptoms After: Now when turn on, green power light comes on and hear click (no screen or sound) then light goes off, repeats 2 more times, then nothing.
Unplugged overnight to reset. Turn on next morning with same result (green light on with click, green light off, for 3 times, then nothing).
Why don't the tubes at leats light like before? I was very carefull not to damage anything. What do I do? What do I replace?
