Hey ive had my sony lcd rptv for over a year and a bit now and im sure the bulb is due to be cahnged soon so not sure if that is the cause but anyway at the top of the screen i notice 1" all the way across is brighter then the rest and just below it is another about 1" that is darker almost like there is dust on the screen from 1"down but it is perfectly across the top, i will try and get a screenshot but not very easily noticed. would the bulb cause this effect if it is about to die perhaps or could it just be dust and need to clean out the inside.

Usually on these TV when you have picture problems it all goes back to the optical block. See the sticky at the top of the forum. Sony has extended the warranty to cover them. Chances are this is what is causing your issues.

So in other words i need to get a new tv, this is my second lcd rptv that has had issues with the optical block, seems like they are not very well made. Does anyone know if the flat panel lcds have these problems because i think im going to get one of them soon.

one other thing i was wondering could it possibly be burn in.. i know lcds are hard to have this happen but could it be that maybe i left it on a certian channel with something on that did this.

maybe i read the sticky note on burn in wrong a few years ago i could have sworn it said lcd can but very rare get burn in. but like i said i could be wrong. thanks though
There have been some reports of greyscale degradation on some RP LCDs, however, only if it's almost never turned off, as soon as it's turned off, the LCDs twist into their proper form again - or if you have black bars on 24/7, which doesn't appear to be the "pattern" on your TV based on the picture I saw.
Flat panels LCDs don't have burn in - look at how many are used on computers, with nothing but static images.

good point, thanks for the info. My tv is on i would say about 16 hours a day easy. 8 am till about 12 - 2 am, not even watching it for the most part just because ill be back and forth to it and fear turning it on and off due to the bulb. but ya if any static img is left on it, it would be in the top corner where it displays video 7 for my hdmi when i turn off my ps3 thats all it shows and until i go over and switch to tv or dvd it stays like that for more time then any other img. I almost was hoping it was burnin but oh well i guess i have another broken lcd rptv... cant wait to get a flat panel lol... hope they dont have the same issues as often i seem to have bad luck with these tvs lol.
thanks for all the help everyone.

No you don't need a new TV Sony will cover the cost of the Optical Block and the install (usually at your home).

I have had it over a year would it even be covered? as far as i know they only have a 1 year warranty and i have to be outside of that by now. unless this issue is covered outside the warranty period, but i am going to call them tomorrow just to check thanks.

I know you're upset about your TV, but read what people are telling you.

the optical block has a 2 year warranty on that model. it will be anywhere from $200 to $350 to get put in tho. Sony insists that the kdf xx e2000 series are not affected by the optical block problem. I believe that they think if they ay it enough, people will believe it.
