Does anyone else that has Time Warner have Discovery HD. I am just curious to know if it is a Milwaukee problem or a Time Warner corporate problem.

Hey, no post to your question, buy I live in Franklin, WI, and my father in law lives in Waterford, next to whitford(?) park, on the river. I can say, on a related subject, that I do hope TWC expands their hd channels. We are actually in the process of getting a 65" Mits. I was looking on TWC site, at programming, and hoping that their will be more soon.
Cheers

Please be patient with TWC: they have up to 8 HD channels of programmes at any given time, if you add the NBA basketball shows from this past week and the Masters before that. When the FOX local put up their tiny tower to keep the Feds happy, TWC asked permission to rebroadcast it on their cable system and now, although it is 480P not 720P or 1080i, at least it is accessable to more viewers than before. That is why cable, when it delivers, can be a good thing. I have had service with a smile, helpful CSR's, fast turn-arounds, and good HD pictures on 8 channels. Some larger cities than those served OUTSIDE of Wisconsin, cannot boast what TWC has done for us in southeastern Wisconsin area it serves. TWC is watching out for not only itself, but for a consumer it perceives may not want to spend more than is wants to for what could amount to as too little (more) HD service.
Look what happened to the DISH network-delivery of the HD Discovery channel (not very successful as it was too pricey). Maybe it will follow the lines of COX cable with a 2-HD channel punch for less money, than just one extra channel.
I have called both DIRECTV and TWC (I have both until the DVR's are available in HD-and who has them first-with locals). BOTH of them are scrambling around for some "HD-package" this coming month or so, to compete aqainst each other, but will not elaborate on it more than that. Not just because of competive reasons, but that contracts require negotiating, even in this business. If it is too high, who will subscribe? How many subscribers does it take to make it worthwhile? Look at it this way: when DIRECTV shows NBA-HD, TWC suddenly has it on their system. HD can be had. Competition can HD thing. Just be patient.
So you have some HD to watch enough to hookup that new HD set and enjoy it. IF you go OTA, make sure your set is integrated with a tuner and aim an antenna towards Chicago if you live on the south side of Milwaukee. The HD forum there has some posts indicating OTA reception success from that city,to get more HD that is not even offered OTA in Milwaukee. If TWC can deliver it, it will be done. If it is not even broadcasted from their towers (as in the WB and UPN) in that city, it cannot be done even from cable. Try aiming an antenna at Chicago to pick up the rest or just use TWC HD for now.
I hope this helps you out.

Time Warner Cable of SE Wisconsin posted in their question and answer section they call "Customer Care" of their website, that the Discovery HD channel is coming in summer...vague as that date is, but it is SOMETHING.
Again, this was on their website, not a call to the usually poorly-informed CSR's they like to staff, but not train.
They also mentioned 2 HD INDEMAND channels (think: pay-per-view) instead of a subcription for HDNET. It will have offerings like HDNET, but I guess they are just scared of Mr. Cuban.
In addition, a "FOX HD sports channel" (probably in 720P) in the fall, with that PPV HD mess. :(
I wish TWC would be more competitive and offer the same HDNET, HDNET movies and ESPN HD with the Discovery HD as DIRECTV will in July. Instead we have their version. Some folks might like their HD offerings...I don't. Paying for HD can be more acceptable under a "package" like DIRECTV will have...PPV HD in replace of good programming, just sucks.
This the latest update I have from "wonderful" Wisconsin.

I am going to check my TWC cable system tonight for this...seems they try to go national on certain things all at once like those NBA and Masters games earlier this year.
But then again, Florida is more advanced - it DOES if I remember right, have the WB network in digital and HD(per show) and we do not in wonderful Wisconsin.:(

gp,
From what I can tell on this forum we in Cental Florida have the some of the best HD service in the country.
Through TWC (BHN) we get:
ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB, PBS, Showtime, HBO, Discovery HD(7/15) at no additional charge.
They haven't announced yet when we'll get FSN and InDemand like Austin Texas.
Plus I think there are some other OTA HD channels that can be picked up.
But we don't make cheese... and I love cheese ;)
