Hi, I have a JVC LT-32EX18 LCD, and need help with the remote controls.
I just bought this tv and can't get the ZOOM function and some other functions to work. Specifically, I want to change the display so that when I am watching a DVD that shows the black bars I can zoom the picture to fill up the screen. Currently the Zoom function doesn't appear to be working.
When I go into the menu setup the Zoom is grayed out.
Thanks BD
Some TVs don't allow you to zoom incoming HD signals - for example, if you're using an upconverting DVD player set to output 720P or 1080i. Black bars are a normal part of viewing when watching 2.35:1 aspect ratio movies for example. See the following FAQ for further comments on the subject:

Hey, 57U thanks for the info. I guess i am stuck with it. Unfortunately I had to buy the TV and Sony Upscaling DVD player before I could read the manuals. It looks like I am stuck with it. The reason I bought a wide/big screen tv was to have a bigger picture. I hate looking at the black bars. I was hoping to have a better picture with the Upscaling DVD player ,but I don't want to look at the BARS!!. Maybe I will try my older DVD player and see if I can watch DVD's with that.
DID I mention I hate looking at the black bars. Anyone want to buy a TV.
Again Thanks for the info. Regards, BD
No matter which TV you have, you'll either have to distort the picture, crop the picture or put up with bars depending on the aspect ratio of the movie and the TV. Learn to understand and accept black bars... Most people agree that they are better than losing part of the picture or distorting the picture.
