near $200 for a damn warranty. The "just in case" factor has many people worried. How many of you decided against it because you thought is was too expensive?

There is also a company now selling extended warrantys on the net called Square Trade. I believe there owned by Ebay. They have excellent prices and seem to have good reviews behind them. May want to check it out.

Okay, just my experience, my Hitachi 70VS810 died a horrible optical block "death" recently.
-If it wasn't for my 4-year extended CC warranty, I would not be watching my new HDTV today. :D
The $450 I spent was about $9.37 a month for in-home service, bulb replacement and optical block changeouts, which happened the past few months as the techs tried in vain to get the green out of the picture, first the yellow ring, then the green haze.
So they wanted to put it "salvage" and I got them to deliver for free, a new Samsung 67" LED DLP which looks more amazing than the Hitachi ever did without a bulb to change or block to go bad.
It was either that, or the Mits 73735, but I never had good experiences personally with this brand of set, so we moved the whole HT setup about a foot forward to the seating area to make up the difference in screen size. :)
-That $450 41 months ago was well worth the price and I would do it again with the Samsung (if the LED light tunnel ever goes out), but I have little info on that and this is their third generation sets for LED DLPs.

Will my TV just went out and I have no warranty, so it looks like I'm SOL wish I had the extended warranty :sobbing:
When I get the Extended Warranty, the product never seems to break... ever. I hope that's a good sign for my PS3.
When I look at all the product I have owned that went Bad.
Kenwood DVD player
Samsung Camera
xbox 360
it seems to happen when I don't get the extra warranty.
I know it's coincidence but still..If it works....

I honestly think you're better off getting the extended warranty, even if it's for an additional year or two. You never know if the TV or some piece of equipment is a lemon or not. It'll give you piece of mind, and if something unfortunate happens, you'll be able to get if fixed or replaced.
All of the TV's I bought have an extended warranty. It paid off once. I bought a Toshiba 26HF84 CRT a few years back. It had a bad overscan and the image seemed to curve in certain areas, so I brought it to be repaired. To make a long story short, when I picked up the TV a second time, the power cord was frayed, the unit was scratched and the screen had a chip in it. Surfice to say I was very pleased, as I was able to exchange the TV for a new one; wound up getting the Sony KLD-32S3000; a sweet TV.
Many time you may not need the warranty, but if your spending over $1000 on a TV, you should have it.
