I have a question I have been trying to figure out; and the internet has not been much help.
My Comcast market, like many others, is dumping analog stations to digital to free up room for more HD channels. I understand that digital stations take up much less bandwidth than analog stations. I am wondering if their is a ratio or generic formula for number of analog stations removed to number of HD channels that can be added.
In other words, how many analog stations need to be dropped to gain room enough for one HD channel addition.
Thanks guys! :)

2 digital channels can fit in the bandwidth of 1 analog channel...

Just to clarify...

Two "HD" channels can be carried in the same bandwidth as one analog. But... if no HD is required, they can provide many more within the same bandwidth in SD (around 10, I believe).
