View Full Version : Lost FTA Antenna Signals [PT-53WXD63]

Hi,

I own the PT-53WXD63 Panny model since 2003 when it came out, and had been loving it ever since. For the last two weeks I started noticing some weird issues where all the OTA antenna signals would randomly disappear with 0% signal strength for HD channels that would not even fluctuate a bit. Even the SD channels would not tune. This happened randomly for about 1-2 weeks and now I can't even get the TV to tune a single channel using the OTA antenna.

I tested another HDTV using the same antenna setup at the same spot, and I get all the channels. Have also tried just getting the normal SD channels which I used to get all the time anyway on the Panny, but no success.

Everything else works fine, i.e my Dish Network setup works thru Comp1 and I have a PS3 hooked up on the HDMI with no issues, only the Coaxial Cable based Antenna input is giving me headache. Have also tried changing the Coax cables with no success.

Would appreciate anyone's technical insight on this one.

Thanks.

Try unplugging the TV from the wall (power) for a few minutes (30?). Afterwards perform a channel search/scan.

Thanks for your response Ratman.

During lunch I went home and turned on the TV, and was pleasantly surprised that all the channels were back, the ones that were nowhere to be found till last night.

Anyway I still unplugged the TV for 30mins as you said and replugged and reprogrammed the channels and so far so good.

Since in my original problem earlier I was losing all the OTA antenna channels randomly within a day timeframe, I am hoping this reset does some good, hoping it discharges all capacitors completely, and I keep the channels from here onwards.

Will let you know if the problem comes back... Keeping my fingers crossed...

OK, it seems that the channels came back at lunch time after I had unplugged/replugged the power with 30min in between, but now after work when I got back all the channels went away again and show absolutely 0% signals just like the original problem I stated.

I again unplugged/replugged the power cord for about 5 mins, and then rescanned the channels and all channels came back only to go away completely again after in about 5mins of watching, that is back to square one...

Any idea what this could be caused by?

Also, its weird that when I unplug and replug the power, the TV retains my old channels somehow, is there a way to fully reset the TV?

Got me! :)

You may want to try to pose your issues to Panasonic support for more insight. Sorry, but it may boil down to a failing tuner.
