what format does direct tv send?

watching regular cable it's sent in 4.3 style (i think thats what they call it)
my tv is a Mitsubishi 55411 and is really designed best for 16.9 format.
other than dvd movies already formated, if i switched to direct tv or some dish type would it be sent in 16.9?

DirecTV sends its info in 4:3 format. The exception is in its few HDTV channels (HBO, Showtime, PPV, free HDTV sampler channel)

do any of the dish networks do this? what about if i get the converter and go HD?

Dish does have the Discovery HD Theater (http://dhd.discovery.com/) channel. They also have 4:3 channels. I don't know how many, if at all, other HD channels Dish has.
