Mitsubishi WS-A65 ** NO VIDEO AFTER 1 HR OR SO **

About three weeks ago I was watching a movie when the picture began to fade to what appeared to be b&w. Then it turned completely white, then it seemed to be battling between normal and no picture, soon after the video turned completely black while the audio stayed in tact. I let it sit for a while and tried it again and it came on just fine, then after about a half hour the video went out again.

I had it looked at by a "pro" who just banged on a few compnents and then told me that I have to replace the convergence "main" board. That doesnt make much sense to me especially after looking at the threads I found here. Can somebody please point me in the right direction here? Thank you in advance for your help.

The video function of my TV will shut down after about an hour or so leaving just the audio. Also, when it is working, the picture has a slight stretching on the far right and left of the screen. Can somebody please shed some light on this for me? Thank you.

I have merged your threads since it may be relevant. This is perhaps related to the convergence IC issue that affects a lot of older CRT-based RPTVs. See the following post on the matter.

People replace the ICs, appropriate resistors and check for cracked solder. Although your symptoms are not "textbook" IC symptoms, they are similar enough that I thought I'd provide you the link since different makes/models react slightly differently.
