At a fundraiser I went to this past weekend, there was a raffle for several items, one of which was a 52" RCA HDTV. Since I already own a (newly replaced) 51" Sony, I didn't really look twice at the RCA. However, when the night was nearly over, I still had one raffle ticket in my hand, so I dropped it in the RCA bucket for kicks.

Well, I won it.

Honestly, I know nothing about RCA HDTVs, and probably wouldn't have bought this one if I was in the market, but it's decent. Right now I've got it in my bedroom, at least until the day arrives that my basement is finished.

I now have two HDTVs over 50" in my house. How absurd is that?

:D

I don't know how big your house is or what kind of viewing habits you and your family have, but if I was in your position (winning a 2nd 50"+ HDTV), I'd sell one of them. Put the money in your bank account and you'll be able to buy a brand-spanking new HDTV (1080p plasma with built-in HD-DVD and PVR?) in a few years when the set goes or you want to upgrade. I don't see much point in having two essentially identical TV's - I can only watch one at a time anyway.

Oh, and congratulations on the win!

that's a good point, but this new TV is kinda crappy, IMO, and will do just fine in the basement eventually. For what I could sell it for, I like to think in a couple years when plasma TVs are that low, I could simply withhold a paycheck or two and buy it with that. Not like I could get $3000 for this one, I'd be happy if I got $1500. Why do you think they gave it away?

Congrats!

Put it in the paper! tell them it's brand new in box with full waranty.

Someone will call. Price it for $300 less than the stores.

If you sell it quick... it could be delivered to the buyers house and not yours... That sweetens the deal.
