Jeez Mike, you are getting ripped off!
All I pay is the 50% cost of PPV.
And $8/month for cable modem :p

Dude - you are working for the wrong cable company! Not to brag too much, but we get everything free: including the HDTV tuner, RoadRunner service, subscription video on demand (4 channels, 150 hours per week) and full service - around 276 channels.
It rules!
Time Warner doesn't have a contract in LA with ESPN HD - everybody is scrambling to find out when and if - but at least we don't get charged.
Kojak light - they charge you for the modem? Man, what gives?
Sorry - TWC seems to be the class of the lot! (gentle ribbing inserted here) .:D

No im not getting ripped off I get all dig cable for free except just the HD stuff. 270 channels dig cable and I get my HSI for free(cable internet) and when we get telephone ill only have to pay the taxes. I think paying $10 a month for the rental and all locals and HBO and SHO HD is not to much to ask of me.:p...... And i also only pay 50% on all PPV's. So im pretty much tied with you tenorguy.............

yep, looks like you got us covered, Tenorguy!
At least you're not stuck with Adelphia, eh? ;)
but I do get discounted cable telephony...

kojak light - I was with Adelphia before I moved into TWC system. Can you believe Adelphia in LA is still using that big (I mean big) dig Motorola box - the one with the mini rf loop in the back. Talk about old technology....
I'm curious, how is the telephony? Local TW kind of dropped exploration of that stuff....... our 6 headends are spread out all over the LA area so the division concentrated on hd instead. Is your service good - stable and clear? I've heard the clarity is amazing.
mikehbkwm - great to hear about the ppv half off. Do you have vod and/or svod? Also, are there plans to launch a dvr?
Just curious..... Tenorguy

Screw cable! 2-3 year HDTV rollout here in Oregon... I'm switching to Dishnet as soon as the PVR921 is released!

I know Comcast sucks - all so well!
The problem is the convenience......they no they offer convenience and they say screw the customer.
Can I say that?

no = know
Two quick points - if you make an error in your post, it's easy to simply edit the post using the edit button (bottom right). No need to post again.
There is no need to "slag" various service providers. "Comcast Sucks" has been posted here several times but it doesn't really contribute much to the "conversation". Neither do comments like "screw cable".
All service providers have strengths and weaknesses. Please feel free to discuss these strengths and weaknesses in a civil manner.

Tenorguy- The telephony is very good, but we have stopped growing that business. Waiting for IP telephony maybe next year?
Also, we are launching PVR in Q4. Motorola is coming out with a new PVR capable HD unit- the 6200. I just got my 5100 the other day and it is real sweet! Can hardly wait for the launch in June...
BTW, I would be very surprised if Portland did not launch HDTV in the next 6 months. Comcast is really pushing the systems to get this HDTV thing going. It is a major competitive advantage.

57U,
Thanks for the info.
You just gave me a great idea. Maybe I will call and cancel Comcast and when their special "recovery" team calls to ask why.
I will say "April Fools!!!"
Do you think they would like that?
That seems more civil. They have wasted much of my time, maybe I can waste some of their time.
I think I need to be more aggressive and complain less as you suggested.
Maybe I should do a Comcast survey and then send the link to Comcast but who is going to read it though?
They sure do not respond to my emails.
btw - I forget a word on the original post and used the edit function! I am a platinum post edit mo-fo!

This is freedom of Speech! I'm chosing to talk shite to Comcast...I've had nothing but problems with the inferior cable company! Comcast cable has the worst customer relations i've ever delt with. I've been trying to get just one answer on when HDTV rollout would hit Portland and the only answer received was "I don't understand what HDTV is?? OH! high definition Television...it could probably be 2-3 years, but we are really unsure at this time?!?" what kind of answer is that? where is there any advantage here?? Anyway like i said....GO DishNet!

Dude settle down. Like 57U said they all have their advantages and disadvantages. You say how do I know. IVE WORKED FOR ALL 3 NOW. Trust me when I say Dish, Direct, Cable ALLLLL have their disadvantages and if cable isnt making you happy then go to DISH. Just keep in mind they have the same amount of dumb customer service reps out there as does any call center in the US. There is NO one perfect company. Not every customer service rep cares about their job say as much as I care about mine. I in all honesty love my job as a CSR for cable and I provide DAMN good customer service because I love the TV industry and especially cable. Its to bad many people these days in our industry dont care about their jobs and dont give good service when someone calls in. Many people in call centers will just give you an answer to get you off the phone............

mikehbkwm,
That is exactly why I prefaced my statement with
"....defianetly no bust on you guys - you guys are great but..."
Of the 10, I talked to the phone, 1 was helpful...well at least honest in the fact that he didnt have a clue.
As far as the techs that were onsite (3 of which) all could not solve the problem. Finally, they told me to call a supervisor when
the actual game was being broadcasted. This is something I asked for 10 calls earlier and before missing work 3 times. I was told by the CSR rep "we do not need to do this - I think you underestimate the ability of our service techs"
The last trip to the house, the tech said "I know we are having problems with this station, but it is not this problem....hmmmm...I will change the box and see what that does"
If they checked the database, the box was changed on every trip to the house.
Here is a concept...how about communicating this to the CSR people because their response is "I havent had a single customer complaint on this channel"
I am confident that I am not alone when I say they could do a better job. .
I have had computers that have failed and you can replace every component in the box and it just refuses to work. I realize this but there is a point of no-return.
This is just one element that lacks. The PR is non-existent.
Keep in mind, we are talking about Comcast in MD. I cant speak for the other cable systems.
