have a mits ws55311 that worked fine, no picture problems or anything else. All of a sudden one day it shut off without notice, when I turned it back on, no picture came on and the green light stayed on for 3 sec then clicked off. when I checked the error code it indicated 2-2 short protect. Since then I've heard many things, but when I took chassis out and had professional check fuses (7) - he doesn't "work" on mitsubishi tv's - he found the 5 amp fuse blown, he replaced it. he checked the diodes and everything else was ok, I put it back together and turned it on - the same thing happened. Can someone please help. I had no picture problem so the IC seems not to be the culprit. I live in the middle of nowhere and no tv repair people will help with a mitsubishi.

Why do you think a convergence IC is not the problem? There is not enough information in your post to conclude this. Which fuse was open?
A professional would use the information of which fuse was open to track down the source of the problem. Even someone who does not normally work on Mits sets should be able to troubleshoot this. The most common problem would be a convergence IC, and if the fuse was on one of the convergence supply lines this would be a good indicator that the problem is there. Sounds like you used someone who works on electronics rather than a professional.

the fuse was the 5 amp F9A05, all the others checked ok. The reason the conv does not seem to be the problem is that typically you have problems with your picture in some way prior to shut down. This was not the case with my TV, I had no picture wave, color variation, shadow etc. I can get the parts and have him install them he felt this was not the problem. He does work on TV full time, but said he would need the whole TV and I can only move the chassis to him. I'm really trying my best and your help is greatly appreciated and needed . I'm sorry if I forgot any other info, let me know if more is needed. Thanks.........

Like I said, any decent tech who did his homework or even looked at the board carefully would realize that that fuse is on the -24v line. It is the most common one to fail when a convergence amp goes, and that supply line feeds the convergence amps and nothing else, other than the short detect line. It could be a component in the protect line or peripheral to the output amps, but these are pretty obvious possibilities to any decent tech. If you remove the convergence amps and still have a large current draw on the -24v line you need to look for the other possibilities. Rare, but possible. Rather than speculating, real techs diagnose. This is pretty basic stuff that no decent tech should not be able to quickly sort out.

i have the same issue, same tv. no problems before everything worked perfect then bam. tv turns on for 3 sec, solid green light then shuts down. Sounds like a few hisses (air noise ) twice then a click and shutdown. Had tech out today and he said it is probably the power source and high voltage parts that all need to be replaced...he told me about $400 to replace that board, the one located on the right. If anyone has any shortcuts to this I'm open to hear them.
