Can settings change on a HD set automatically? I have a Sony HD set and I noticed a couple of times that the picture is off and I look at the settings and its way off from where I set it. I know nobody fools around with the settings but me. Its weird.

Generally speaking the settings have to be saved once changed or they go back to their defaults...

I just bought a Sony HDTV (KDL-46Z4100) and have slightly different picture settings for each of four inputs, but they have not changed since being set. There is no "save" selection on the menu.
I notice there is a reset option on each input to return to default settings.
Usually the only time this will happen if an option to reset to default is engaged each time the TV is turned off. (this is so the stores know that the TV is in the same condition again when it's turned on each morning).
This is sometimes an option in the user menu which can be disengaged, however, random changes should not happen.
You should also realize that the settings in many TVs are remembered for each input, so that when you switch from say HDMI1 to HDM2 the one could be on Vivid while the other is on Standard. You must change each input manually and if in the Custom/user mode, you must usually change each setting in the picture mode.
