I just bought a Samsung TXM3096WHF and was wondering whether Samsung would offer a DVI/HDCP-compatible add-on/card for their current crop of TVs. I instead found that there are going to be some new 30-32" (among others) models introduced shortly with DVI.

If they come out soon enough, I might take the 3096 back to Best Buy....I simply love the PQ of my current Samsung, and the size is PERFECT for my particular setup.

Will these new direct view sets do 720p? I've been eyeing the Samsung sets for a while, but my major "should I really?" is that they don't support 720p... and I wonder how important that is.

Even if the set does not accept 720P, most STBs output 1080i, which all HDTVs accept.

720P is only an issue if you're a "gamer" since some games are 720P.

i bought the txm3298 back in december and it wasn't working right. i finally got samsumg to agree to replace it, but they were all out of that model, so i am getting the TXN model instead. i was gonna sell it to get a tv with DVI, but now i won't have to. this is the greatest day ever!!!!!!

Hope they agree to replace my LTM225W too.
They all tell me it support HDCP/DVI, but it does not.

Direct View sets cannot display 720p. They are either 540p or 1080i.

Many of the newer direct view sets "accept" 720P although they cannot display 720P natively.

Direct view sets display 480P or 1080i. I don't recall seeing a DV TV that displays 540P. 540P is an option on Toshiba and Hitachi and perhaps other CRT-based RPTVs.
