Visited my local comcast office Friday (Antioch, CA). Was advised that they were involved in "training" to begin distribution of HDTV STB's within the next 30 days or so. Couldn't get anything else out of them. Lot's of uncertainty. At least the office crew knew what HDTV was this time! FYI.

We are starting our testing this week.
The launch will be on June 3rd (in rebuilt areas only)

Kojak, is Comcast sending the HD signal as QAM or 8VSB? If I had a QAM compatible reciever (built into a PC for example), could I recieve it without the DCT? I can't live without DVR functionality, and the DCT's program guide performance leaves something to be desired.
I have no problem paying for the HD channels, just using the DCT to get at it.
I live in redwood city BTW, is that system going to get it? Will some analog channels be moved to digital tiers to make room for the HD?
