I purchased a Sanyo PLV-70 LCD Projector in October 2002 for watching DVDs in a home theatre setting. The projector has been a great device with sharp, vivid images and little if any trouble. I've got it mounted on the ceiling and projecting onto a 100" Stewart Grayhawk fixed mount screen. (It would have been OK to just use a fairly white wall - it seems to make little difference with this LCD projector, but the Stewart's high quality frame makes everything that much nicer.) I've even hauled the Sanyo up to a rented beachhouse in Charleston, SC for Thanksgiving week 2002 to watch DVDs with family and friends - a great time was had by all.
I purchased a Samsung SIR-T165 STB in order to watch the Super Bowl via the OTA HDTV signal from Jax, FL (about 33 miles to the north), but I needed a signal amp and didn't get to see my first HDTV program until the day after the Super Bowl. I've been getting great signals and HDTV reception ever since. (From time to time, the HDTV signal breaks up and I expect the hot weather and T-storms to cause a bit more trouble over the summer months here in Northeast Florida.)
The reason I'm posting this is because I see little or any "talk" about projecters. Although a bit pricey (my Sanyo PLV-70 was about $5,300 - street price), it has a wide variety of automatic HD image displays, great color, great image, etc., etc. . . . and I'm watching a 100" size image. Does anyone else out there have anything to say about the PLV-70?
