Do any of you current RP82 owners know why I seem to have lost the rear speakers when playing DVD's. They work on the set up test and are fine while watching Dish. Can you think of anything Im missing here?

I assume that you are using the digital audio output from the DVD player to the receiver (optical or coax). Have you verified that the DVD player's audio setup (menu) has 'bitstream' selected?
Also, make sure the receiver is setup for the proper digital input (coax/optical) and set to Dolby Digital.

Ah ha, I will check the Bitstream situation.
Yea, checked that, Bit stream is on. What else could it be?

OK, Got the rears working without the Digital output cables being connected. Dont know how, just played around in Set up. I bought new Monster cables and it made no difference, also, if I hit the Audio button on the remote, it comes up with this. 3/2.1 ch
It says 5.1 on the reciever/amp?????

3/2.1 indicates the 3 front channels, 2 rears and .1 subwoofer. When this comes up it indicates that you have not "decoded" your signal. If you press "audio" again (or the Dolby button, or whichever button you're supposed to press to decode your audio), it should then read 5.1 and all the speakers should be working.
Same goes for DD2.0. It'll read 2.0 unless you press the button and then you'll have Dolby pro-logic. If you listen to 2.0, it'll have nothing from the rears (obviously because you're listening to "stereo").
Sometimes, I leave it at 2.0 because I prefer to listen to music as 2.0 (stereo) instead of Pro-logic.
The reason it may work one way on DVDs and another on your other inputs is because your receiver is smart enough to remember which mode you last listened in on that particular input.
Please read your A/V receiver's manual, this should all be explained in there.
