I saw one of the other DVD players listed on their site. Its listed as Nintaus PDVD-N9769, while the front panel picture of the DVD player has the name spelled as Nontaus. I thought that was funny. :)

If you're looking for a function or feature, spelling doesn't count.
Keep in mind, you are looking at a Website that has been translated from Chinese/Japanese (or whatever) to English.
It's not a scam.
This DVD player has been discussed on other forums along with the other players that output 720p and 1080i (Bravo and Samsung).
Give 'em a little slack! :rolleyes:

What content is available on DVD that will make use of a player in 1080i or 720p? Or does this player upconvert content to 1080i?

None...
The newer players now will upconvert to 720p or 1080i in the player.
These players provide the benefit of digitally upconverting the video in the player. On the Samsung and Bravo players, the HD signal is handed to the TV via the DVI interface (which must be HDCP compatible). This provides a 100% digital HD (albiet upconverted) signal/picture.
From what I've read... the picture quality is VERY good, especially at 720P.
The added benefit of the Momitsu player is that it can provide the 720p/1080i via the component outputs. This will allow those without DVI inerfaces on their TV's to take advantage of the better picture.
And... macrovision is disabled, region free and converts PAL to NTSC without an external converter.

Wow!
This really is the dream player I've been looking for. This will even play divx files?!?!? Now my personal storage can be viewed on my TV without using TV out on my vid card AND the material will be upconverted to 1080i or 720p!
As for DVD, I'd love to watch AOTC with this player!
getting greedy now, any chance the manufacturer will make a 6-disc version? ;)

Did you see the shipping cost to the US? $80.50! Must ship direct from Taiwan.
What other players are out there that upconvert to 1080i or 720p? Any that use firewire?

IF this player can read the upcoming 'blue-laser' burned dvd's[hd-dvd], then it will be well worth the money. 'Blue-laser' read/write technology allows a single dvd to hold around 27 gigs of data without divx compression. This will be enough to contain a movie in TRUE HD format-720p [or 1080i] native resolution. You'll be hearing more on this soon. ..........ps- watch TechTV!

Thanx for the reply. The only way I know about this is from watching too much Tech TV (lol). On the "Screensavers" show, they did a round up of digital tv's, and they kept referring to the dvi input as being the best for upcoming HD-DVD players. While I am sure these new players will have connectability via component jacks, the dvi input is suppossed to more suited to the task, since it will accept a huge, uncompressed signal flow that these new players will undoubtedly be able to dish out.
