Just got a flyer with my Direct TV bill. It stated that the NFL Sunday ticket will have more technological advances and to stay tuned for more info coming on HDTV. Anyone hear anything on what this might mean? The sunday ticket broadcasts last year were probably the worst quality wise on my Mitsubishi 65" screen. It looked like analog converted to digital. I was considering canceling the service because of this, but if Direct TV would even offer Standard Digital quality for the sunday ticket I would hang on to it. Its almost 200.00 a year now for the service. Its tough being a Vikings fan in DC.

Well, this is only conjecture but...
CBS is the HD leader currently. And they are also one of the two Sunday networks (Fox being the other)... If you don't count ESPN and their Sunday night game (Another post on THIS trifecta elsewhere!)
Since CBS has already let on that they are going to broadcast at least one game every Sunday in HD (the 'game of the week' for them maybe?) and since DirecTV basically has an agreement with both networks to carry all broadcasts of their games... it follows that, once they find a channel to put it on (probably on their 110 sat) they will be offering CBS's HD game via satellite!
BTW, I tuned into FOX's Coca-Cola 600 in HD this weekend and... WOW! I was actually VERY happliy surprised with the quality of their 480p widescreen broadcast!!! I thought that it would be inferior to the HDNet and CBS stuff but it actually held it's own IMHO. Seriously good looking stuff. I guess FOX really IS a real network... LOL
It was better than watching a 480p DVD. I am thinking that it had to do with the live feed of pictures. Apparently, as is true with 1080i, when you want the best picture, it doesn't get any better than live programming! So be prepared for an interesting year ahead!!! Everyone has their own version of HD and they ALL look good!
