Great site everyone, I have been going in circles w/ my HD box, antenna for so long it hurts.

I have a Hughes box and just got and installed the third LNB for my dish [DTV].

There are times when some channels on the Hughes box [in non HD mode] will go out [searching for signal], while the RCA boxes in other rooms are working fine. Cannot get a straight answer on what the heck is going on. Any ideas?

Now, more importantly the HD is gone. I have great signal strength on all three LNB's, with the lowest one being 97, but when I go to 509 for example, there is no picture whatsoever.

With the Hughes you pick the dish type, etc. When doing this and asking it to "autoconfigure" it tells me I have an 18" round dish which is not the case.

I would just like to turn the TV on and have some darn peace. I am so frustrated I have pretty much stopped watching tv in the basement on the new system cause it irritates me so much.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Thanks,
Tom Bare.

Check your sat "b, c" combiner that may be your problem. Also are you using one of the new phase three sat dishes? I have heard of all sorts of problems with the built in multiswitches with those dishes.

Yes, I can confirm that with MY dish (Sony) if you switch horns around into the multiswitcher (ie: B into C and C into B) you lose SOME but not ALL channels!

Check your connections.

Hughes brought up an interesting point. They had me look at signal strength on transponders 22-32 on sat A and sat B. The signal strengths were the same, w/ 22 being 0. He told me that B was not being fed through the dish or the signal strengths would be different for those transponders, and 22 especially would have a signal. He said therefore, all the info is coming from sat A which does not have the hi def signals.

Bottom line, he said what you guys have suggested; that the multi switch [ChannelMaster] is bad and is not combining A and B.

Now, after trips to all the local electronics stores with zero luck, where the heck do I get a multi switch???

Thanks!
Tom Bare.
